Starting at 6 pm you are invited to join the Utopie x Volkskeuken weekly Community dinner. After the dinner (at 8 pm) the story telling event will begin.
About Tables and Tales
Tables and tales is a community initiative organized by participants of the M4HR Youth Trajectory for Change, part of the MDT Move 4 Human Rights, in collaboration with Grand Café Utopie and the Dutch International Storytelling Centre. The event approaches food and storytelling as accessible and inclusive tools to bring people closer together. We invite locals and newcomers, people with different migration experiences, and anyone who would like to connect through food and stories to enjoy a donation-based meal at Grand Café Utopie provided by Volkskeuken. Following the dinner, the event offers the chance to hear personal stories about migration, social inclusion, and belonging to the Netherlands.
Selected guest storytellers will reflect on their experiences with migration, social inclusion, and isolation, offering varied perspectives on belonging. These stories, encompassing both positive and challenging experiences, will be shared with sensitivity and care. Through facilitated storytelling, Tables and Tales creates a structured yet warm and inviting setting where participants can engage with themes of cultural exchange, everyday life, and connection despite differences. Participants are also welcome to attend only the dinner or only the storytelling segment. The meal starts at 6 pm and the storytelling program at 8 pm.
About the meal
The meal is provided by De Volkskeuken and part of the weekly community dinner at Grand café Utopie (‘De Aanschuiftafel’). Enjoy a fully plantbased meal made of fresh local ingredients. The meal is served from 6 pm (until 7 pm).

The Story Telling event will be in English. Whether you are a (non-native) English speaker or Dutch speaker, please feel free to join!
